He knows he needs sleep. He knows that for the past three days he's bene in half of a haze recouping in a variety of ways. He's been lounging on the couch and draped across his bed, he's put a closed sign on his door and called whoever needs calling. There are night calls he makes quietly in chalk and in the water when he's feeling up to it just to make up for the lost time when Max falls off the radar a couple of days.
He has to make it up somehow.
So sleep, of course, doesn't come as nicely as he'd like. ]
And only the best for you. I know.
I'll come. Do I get to be in the middle? I want to be in the middle. You two are always so warm and I'm always really cold.
[ It's the magic bleed out, he knows, he likes feeling it when he can--like a furnace or a radiator that lets out the faintest traces of familiarity. ]
[ good. at least he's agreeing to spend a while relaxing before getting to the more nerve wracking part of this. max knows well enough that it has dani on edge, and tris has already gotten more than enough stress from this, not even adding marco's disappearance on top of it. it'll do them all good to spend some time curled up together. they don't do enough of that these days. ]
yes. it's prewarmed for you. the winter blankets are out. come to us, bambi.
[ Well. Of course he's not coming right away. With trips like these, it's always hit or miss as to how long he's staying. He'd moved clients especially for an in-person read so he's given himself at least two days.
We'll just say it takes a bit of work and time for Tris to actually make it there. There's glyph maneuvering and double checking that he has everything and there's reassuring himself that he's going to pop up in the right spot because porting somewhere else by accident has led him to numerous places including a lady's room, junior league soccer game, the middle of the ocean, and an awkward in-between Limbo that Dani had to pull him out of.
Needless to say, there's some prep work that goes into it before Tris arrives, peering his head into the room--curls first, the sound of a bag dropping onto the ground softly as he kicks it to the side. There are no glasses and no ugly sweaters, but Tris did make it a point to wear his softest clothes. Looking at the bed, large and warm, already makes him tired, and he's kind of grateful for that as he nudges Max's foot with his knee. Very softly now: ]
[ for the time that tris is off collecting himself and getting his glyphs ready for transport, max passes back out for a while, snoozing happily curled up to dani's back, and doesn't rouse again until he hears the soft tap of a bag dropped on the floor.
he blinks a moment, sluggishly, as his lips curl into a dopey sort of smile listening to tristan's footsteps across the floor, feeling the dip of the mattress as a knee touches his foot. ]
We missed you, Q. [ he mumbles to him, not so loud as to disturb dani, but enough that tris can hear him, rolling to the side enough to look over to him, before shimmying his hips to make just enough room for tris to squash between him and dani. and then, the reachy hands. arms outstretched, fingers making a grabby motion at the air. come here, you. ] Next mission, you come with.
[He sleeps deeply, and it's wonderful, the warmth of the blankets and the sunshine and Max behind him. It's only when Max stirs that he starts to wake, albeit slowly. There's more shifting, and Dani turns, sighs, stretches his arms above his head and opens his eyes.

Oh. Tris. What a pleasant thing to wake up to.
Dani beams up at him sleepily.]
Tris. Hi.
